The Steam Spring Sale 2026 is upon us and I for one will be buying a bunch of games for my Steam Deck that I don’t really need… again. At this point Valve has had me locked in for basically every seasonal sale since I bought my Deck and I’m honestly not even mad, it’s amazing. I’ve grown accustomed to scrolling through the almost endless list of heavily discounted games, convincing myself that I’ll definitely play them this time. Outside of the big Steam sales, I don’t really keep up with deals throughout the year unless something I’m really chasing hits a historical low. Provided it gets pointed out online… I’ll be honest, I’m just not that observant. After yet another round of questionable financial decisions, I’ve added ten more games to my library. Let’s rip through what I threw my money at and what might actually be worth picking up for your Steam Deck.
Normally I recommend not limiting your seasonal game-buying to just Steam. Other legitimate stores like Green Man Gaming or Loaded typically run a competing sale and it’s always worth a quick look to compare prices. But it seems this Spring, Steam has them all covered.

First up is a two-pack with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered and Fate and Mark of the Ninja: Remastered. I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for TMNT from the arcade and early console games, but this one honestly pulled me in with its unreal cartoony presentation and deep colours that really pop on the Steam Deck OLED. I don’t have much experience with roguelites, but this looked like a decent spot to start. I’ve already fired it up and I’m having an absolute blast with it so far. Mark of the Ninja: Remastered caught my eye for similar reasons, at least visually. I’m not really a huge stealth or platformer guy, but between the art style and how well it seemed suited to the Deck, I felt it was well worth a crack. I’m keen to dive in and have a decent look at it. Along the same lines, I also grabbed Crime Boss: Rockay City. It looks pretty impressive graphically and I while I haven’t spent much time with heist games before, I figured why not. I briefly tried the Payday games, but those never stuck for whatever reason. It’s barely three bucks, there’s really not much to lose here.

Steam sales wouldn’t be Steam sales if I didn’t grab at least one massive game to get lost in, whether I actually play it or not. Last time it was probably Fallout 76, which is unsurprisingly still sitting on the shelf. After finishing Baldur’s Gate 3 quicker than expected, I’ve been on the lookout for another massive RPG to throw myself into. Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader I’ve heard has a lot in common with BG3, but it’s obviously set in the Warhammer 40K universe. If that’s not a huge selling point, I don’t know what is. Owlcat Games have put out some great stuff over the years, so I’m pretty confident I’ll enjoy this one…uh, whenever I actually get around to playing it. As my cart kept growing, The Division 2 somehow made its way in as well. I played the original back on Xbox One and had a pretty decent time with it, even playing solo. Like most of my old consoles, the Xbox One got hocked before I gave myself a chance to finish it and I just never circled back. Well, let’s try again but this time with the sequel! I hear it’s a standalone story so I’ll probably continue skipping the first game for now… hey, does anyone know a sale I could buy it in?

Does anyone remember the Commandos games? Man, I loved them back in the day. I absolutely stank at them and I’m pretty sure I only managed to finish the first one …at least I think I did. When I saw Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, which is basically Commandos if it were set in 1600s Japan, I was sold. It’s also squad-based and rewards patience and smart strategy. I honestly can’t wait to be terrible at this game, it sounds great. I’ve also historically stunk at souls-likes, but a post-apocalyptic setting is usually enough to get me on board. Remnant: From the Ashes is pitched as a souls-like RPG shooter, which is a fairly different spin on the formula. Ranged weapons take the spotlight and managing ammo looks like a big part of avoiding a bad case of deadness. The art style also looks unreal and all that combined was more than enough to twist my arm, they can have my six bucks. In that same price range, I also picked up Night Raider. I’m such a sucker for zombie survival games and this one reminds me of Project Zomboid but with a faster pace, more pixel-art style and I’ve heard it’s a little more accessible. Project Zomboid is hard, man. If Night Raider is just that little bit easier? Easy sell.

Back in December, I did a run through nine classic first-person shooters. Boomer Shooter December was such an unreal time and I can’t get enough of the genre. Wrack: Reclamation is a remake of 2014’s Wrack, which I never played. It actually popped up as a recommendation on Steam and it clearly wears its inspiration on its sleeve. DOOM, Quake, you name it. Wrack: Reclamation is chaotic arcade-style action at an equally chaotic pace with slick kill streaks and just looks like genuine fun. And finally, for those who’ve read my previous Steam sale posts: you know what’s coming, it wouldn’t be a proper sale without adding yet another point-and-click adventure game to my collection. This time I went with Kathy Rain: Director’s Cut and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it for years. The pixel-art looks fantastic, the story is meant to be top tier and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Welcome to the dusty shelf. I’ll get to it soon… probably.

The Steam Spring Sale 2026 has done some damage to the wallet but honestly, I can’t complain. To sound like a stuck record, there’s a solid mix of games here. This time there’s a few outside my usual comfort zone, which I think is a good thing. I can’t just play boomer shooters year round… or can I? Yeah, maybe some of these will sit in the backlog for a while before I accidentally rediscover them in a future sale or Reddit post. If you’ve been on the fence about picking a few games up, or you’re just sick of staring at them on your wishlist, this is a pretty great time to do it. Steam has been hard to beat this time around, at least with what I’ve picked up. The other stores only seem to have the same or similar deals, but always have a quick look around and compare prices. Just don’t go too overboard… or do, I’m clearly not qualified to give that advice.
